ラジコンファンなら、きっと誰もが一度は手にしたことがある『ラジコンマガジン』。
その雑誌が休刊となるというニュースを聞いて、胸にぽっかり穴が開いたような気持ちになりました。
1978年創刊、47年もの間ラジコンファンのバイブルとして親しまれてきた『ラジコンマガジン』が、2025年11月号をもって休刊となりました。私自身、子どもの頃から毎月楽しみにしていた雑誌であり、思い出もたくさんあります。今回は、雑誌の終了と、それにまつわる私自身の思い出、そして今後のラジコン文化について考えてみたいと思います。
『ラジコンマガジン』は、RCカーや飛行機、ボートなどさまざまなラジコン情報を提供してきた専門誌です。新製品の紹介や改造テクニック、全国大会のレポートなど、ラジコンファンにとって欠かせない情報源でした。
休刊の理由としては「印刷メディア全般の市場縮小」と「ネット情報への移行」が大きな要因ではないかと思います。私たちの手元に届く紙の雑誌は減りつつある時代で、仕方のないことですが本当に寂しく思います。
私にとってラジコンマガジンは、単なる雑誌ではありませんでした。初めて組み立てたRCカーのキットのこと、そのキット専用のオプションパーツがあること、そしてRCカーの大会があることもこの雑誌を通じて初めて知りました。毎号の写真や記事は、新しいチャレンジへのワクワク感を運んでくれるものでした。
特に印象に残っているのは、ある号で紹介されていた「自作ボディの改造テクニック」です。それを真似して、自分だけのカスタムカーを作ったときの達成感は今でも忘れられません。
雑誌がなくなることは寂しいですが、ラジコン文化自体は消えるわけではありません。YouTubeやSNS、オンラインでの情報交換が盛んになり、むしろ自分のペースで学べる環境が整っています。また、若い世代は動画で組み立て方やレースの様子を楽しむことが増えており、ラジコンの楽しみ方も多様化しています。
私たちファンは、雑誌に代わる新しい情報源を上手に活用しつつ、これまでの思い出を大切にしていくことができます。『ラジコンマガジン』の休刊によりコアな情報の入手が難しくなりますが、ラジコンの楽しみはまだまだこれからです。雑誌で育った世代も、ネット世代も、共通してラジコンを楽しむ気持ちは変わりません。
『ラジコンマガジン』長い間本当にお疲れさまでした。そして、たくさんの夢をありがとうございました。
With Gratitude to RC Magazine
For anyone who’s ever been passionate about radio-controlled models, RC Magazine was a familiar companion.
Hearing the news of its discontinuation left an empty space in my heart.
First published in 1978, RC Magazine has been loved as the “Bible” of RC enthusiasts for 47 years.
Now, with the November 2025 issue, the magazine comes to an end.
For me, it was more than just a publication—it was something I eagerly looked forward to every month since childhood, filled with countless memories.
In this post, I’d like to reflect on its ending, share some of my own memories, and think about what lies ahead for the RC hobby.
RC Magazine covered a wide range of topics—RC cars, airplanes, boats, and more.
From new product releases and tuning tips to race reports from across Japan, it provided essential information for every fan.
The main reasons behind its closure likely include the shrinking print media market and the shift toward online information.
It’s the reality of our times, but I still can’t help feeling a deep sense of sadness as printed magazines continue to disappear from our hands.
To me, RC Magazine was never just a magazine.
It was through its pages that I learned about assembling my first RC car kit, discovering the world of optional parts, and even realizing that RC racing events existed.
Each issue sparked excitement and inspired new challenges.
One article in particular stands out—an issue featuring “custom body modification techniques.”
I remember trying those ideas myself and the thrill I felt when I finally completed my very own custom car. That feeling has stayed with me ever since.
While it’s sad to see the magazine go, the RC culture itself is not fading away.
Today, YouTube, social media, and online communities provide new ways to learn and share, allowing everyone to enjoy the hobby at their own pace.
Younger generations are now experiencing RC through videos—watching builds, races, and tutorials—and the ways we enjoy the hobby are more diverse than ever.
As fans, we can cherish our memories while embracing new sources of inspiration.
Though the end of RC Magazine makes it harder to find in-depth information, the joy of RC is far from over.
Whether we grew up with magazines or digital media, our shared passion for RC remains the same.
Thank you, RC Magazine, for all the dreams, excitement, and inspiration you’ve given us over the years. You’ll always be a part of our RC journey.
